This is because you have more weight to hit with and there won’t be as much snap. This is because you create more snap with a lighter cue stick. Of course, there are exceptions to this and some pool cues may be lighter than 18 ounces or heaver than 21 ounces. That’s the standard scale that every pool cue manufacturer uses. Typically the range of weights for pool cue sticks is 18, 19, 20 and 21 ounces, with 1/2 ounce intervals in-between. ![]() On average, 18 – 21 ounces is the standard weight of a pool cue. ![]() You should select a pool cue’s weight based on your personal abilities. That’s not a good idea because the ideal weight of a pool cue depends heavily on your own abilities.
